Eunostos Programme · Oxygen plant

Make Oxygen

Mars air is almost all carbon dioxide. A machine like MOXIE, which flew on the Perseverance rover, heats it to about 800 °C and splits it into oxygen and carbon monoxide. Now you run it.

Heater makes the cell hot. Keep it in the green zone, about 750 to 850 °C.

Compressor pushes Mars air in. The cell starves if it is too low.

Voltage makes the oxygen, but it also adds heat and uses power.

Power is limited. Make enough oxygen in each run, and keep the cell alive for six runs.

MARTA: "Hot and steady wins. Too hot cracks the cell, and too cold with high voltage clogs it with carbon."
